ABOUT
In many ways, it all began with Frog and Toad. It’s true. I first fell in love with reading in second grade when I would get pulled out of math class to read Arnold Lobel’s well-loved stories, as part of a reading remediation program. And the story sort of skips along from there. But I’ve always loved stories, and my true love of fiction was developed throughout my childhood. I have fond memories of falling asleep as my father read nightly snippets of The Hobbit to my brother and me and of rushing through classwork just so I could earn an extra five minutes in the 6th grade classroom library.
But my journey as a writer actually began in college. In the midst of working toward a dual degree in education and history, I found myself pouring most of my energy and time into drafting a manuscript, which was a long-form version of a fairy tale. And I’ve been writing ever since.
Of course, over time my taste and focus has shifted, and now I mostly write contemporary fiction with an emphasis on beautiful language. I like to write about the everyday things that draw attention to the hidden truths and beauties in the world.
